Ingredients

  • 300g hard/firm tofu, drained
  • 1 rounded tsp Australian Black Limes Lime Powder
  • 1 pinch salt
  • ¼ tsp cracked pepper
  • 1 heaped tbsp cornflour
  • ⅓ cup olive oil
  • ¼ cup salt reduced soy sauce
  • ¼ cup honey or maple syrup
  • 1 tbsp fresh coriander, roughly chopped
  • 2 tbsp spring onions, finely sliced
  • 1 tsp sesame seeds

Directions

  1. Wrap the tofu in several layers of paper towel and gently press to absorb all the moisture. Do this a couple of times if necessary.
  2. Slice the tofu into triangles about 1cm thick then gently pat dry with paper towels again.
  3. On a plate mix half of the lime powder with salt, pepper and cornflour. Coat each side of the tofu with this floury mix.
  4. Heat oil in a large frying pan and once hot gently add the tofu. Fry tofu on a medium-high heat on both sides until browned, the outside of the tofu should become slightly crunchy.
  5. Take the tofu out of the pan and place on paper towels to absorb excess oil.
  6. In a fresh large pan pour in the soy sauce and honey (or maple syrup).
  7. Heat the pan and gently simmer until the mixture has reduced and become thick and sticky.
  8. Add the tofu to the pan and lightly coat it with the sticky mixture. Put the tofu on a plate and garnish with a sprinkle of coriander, spring onions and sesame seeds.
  9. Spoon on extra sauce from the pan if you like. Serve immediately.
