May Stargazing on the Farm
Mid-May brings some of the year’s most beautiful night skies. As the Sun sets just after 5:30 pm, darkness settles quickly and, with little to no moonlight, the stars shine with remarkable clarity. This is the season when the Milky Way begins to stretch boldly across the sky and the Southern Cross stands tall and easy to find. Bright planets add to the magic, while the crisp autumn air makes stargazing especially comfortable. It’s a perfect time to slow down, step away from city lights, and experience the quiet wonder of the universe from our farm under truly dark country skies.
BYO Picnics or order picnic hampers from Caledonia Cafe and minigolf: from $25 to $35 pp.
TIP – order our very own black lime infused beef sausages or patties from Caledonia Cafe to get the full black lime experience!

Stargazing – 6:30 PM
The Sun sets around 6:30 pm, making it an easy night for families to enjoy the stars without staying up too late. Spring skies bring change, and this is a wonderful time to learn how the night sky shifts through the seasons.
As darkness settles, look for bright planets that stand out from the stars. Jupiter, often the brightest object in the night sky, looks like a glowing torch and, through a telescope, its moons can be seen lined up beside it. Saturn appears softer and golden, and with a telescope its famous rings can delight kids and adults alike.
The Southern Cross is still visible early in the evening, helping children learn how people once navigated by the stars. With mild spring air and dark country skies, October is a relaxed, curious, and magical time to explore the universe together.
